âWeâre on our way back,â Mya said as a female voice made an announcement over a PA system on her end of the line. âI canât stand airports. Everyoneâs so rude.â
âAnd do you like Juan? Heâs not going to be a problem for us, is he?â I asked.
Mya laughed. âYouâll like him. He even brought us a present he thinks will help in our current project.â
I sat up straight. âHe did, did he?â
âHe did, and I think youâre going to love it. Especially after the news that the dress didnât work. If the Fae lady talks to you again, you can tell her that weâve got something which will work. Itâs pretty nasty too.â
I closed my eyes and relaxed into the couch again as Mya giggled in excitement. âI like this Juan already.â
âTold you that you would.â Mya hung up with a smile on her face. Jaxson had never made her this happy, and sheâd only been with Juan for a few minutes. What would a few days do for her?
Myaâs call had come just in time. The mirror rippled to life as Roslyn asked, yet again, âMirror, mirror, whoâs the fairest Fae of all?â
I rolled my eyes as I stood and walked to stand before my own mirror, the vision of the old man I was instead of the female Fae from earlier today. Rafe Danville had been so gullible. Heâd jumped at the first chance to be a hero. If I hadnât been afraid Iâd freeze up again, I would have stuck around and finished the job.
âAvery Lomax is the fairest Fae of all.â I fought not to sigh out of boredom. Roslyn was on my last nerve.
âWhy is she still alive?â Roslynâs beautiful features again morphed to something ugly with anger and jealousy.
âDo you want her dead?â The easiest way to not answer the question and keep the Fae in check was to move the conversation along.
She sneered. âOf course, I do.â
âBe at the coffee shop at nine.â I cut the mirror call off. This time, Juan would go and explain his plan to the woman. It had better work. At this point, I very much regretted not seeing Averyâs blood drip down her neck the night I had the knife to her ivory skin. Next time, if another opportunity came, I would not hesitate. Avery Lomax would die.
